Doing Data Enrichment from scratch is a surprisingly hard big-data problem. But when you use CloudBurst, we simplify it all down to three simple steps, with a focus on transparency, collaboration and low-touch maintainability.
Even though some teams may prioritize getting high coverage early on, this is a tool that can be iterated into over time. Users with even partial coverage can begin to surface new insights immediately, and then work towards more coverage in the future as time allows.
OVERVIEW
We take all of the information contributed by your engineers and integrate into a final Enriched Bill. You can take that output to your favorite reporting tool and you'll see your new dimensions available as if they had been in the bill all along.
1. OWNERSHIP
It all starts with your technical team claiming ownership of different resources. We allow them to split ownership across shared resources at any level of granularity that works for their architecture, direct collaboration when needed, and provide visibility into their claimed spend over time.
If their ownership claims conflict with those of other teams, we'll alert them to the overlap and automatically assist in understanding the situation and resolving it in our platform.
2. ENRICHMENT
Once teams have claimed spend as their own, they can tap into any data sources they have, ranging from logs and application telemetry to contractual data points and gut instinct, and begin to split their own resource consumption directly, with no risk of cross-team conflicts.
We've chosen to break this step out from the previous step for one simple reason: your bill is centralized, but telemetry and application-specific insights are not. It becomes much simpler for our users to inject their insights into the bill once clear lines are drawn between the different owners.
3. OVERSIGHT
As a FinOps leader, you get total visibility and control. Your team can set KPIs regarding enrichment coverage, create tasks for technical contributors and monitor both progress and regressions over time.
Once everything is in place, you can effortlessly check-in with a quick look at built-in monitoring dashboards to make sure everyone is on track and provide additional guidance if anything changes.
